A Bit of Our History
Sleep Country was founded in 1994 in Vancouver by Christine Magee, Stephen Gunn and Gordon Lownds. What began as just four storefronts has since grown into Canada's leading specialty sleep retailer dedicated to transforming lives by awakening Canadians to the power of sleep. With our extensive assortment of innovative sleep products, combined with our incomparable sleep expertise we are proud to be Canada’s sleep partner and support the wellbeing of all Canadians by helping them along their sleep wellness journey. Through our Sleep Country Cares Program, we are committed to supporting local charities that focus on helping children and families in need. Green Recycling Program & Bed Donations
We’re proud to be the only national mattress retailer offering a comprehensive Mattress Recycling Program. When you select Green Glove delivery, our team will remove your old mattress, base and/or boxspring as well as all excess packaging. Sleep well knowing that all collected products are either donated to someone in need in your community or fully recycled. We are dedicated to diverting all packaging and product from landfill and do our part to support the environment and our communities while building a better tomorrow.
Donation beneficiaries include the Toronto Community Housing, The Heart of the Northeast in Calgary, The Bissell Centre in Edmonton and the Western Regional Advocacy Group Society in British Columbia.
This past year we diverted over 165,000 mattresses and foundation units from landfills through donation or recycling.
World Sleep Day
Sleep Country is a proud sponsor of World Sleep Day and wants to inspire everyone to get the necessary sleep for optimal physical and mental wellbeing. Sleep Country is donating a portion of proceeds from all sales on World Sleep Day (March 18) to the Canadian Mental Health Association, up to $100,000, to enable better sleep and wellbeing for everyone.
